Tracking down credit card debt

Overview

I have some debt with Capital One that got sent to a debt collector/ law firm in Texas. After setting up a payment plan with them and making a few payments, I relocated to Massachusetts. The law firm said they only handle cases of Texas residents so my debt would be sent back to capital one and to check with them in a couple of weeks. A couple of weeks go by and Capital One says my debt is still with the law firm and the law firm maintains it has been sent back to Capital one. I have no idea whe
